In 1956, my father Stan Waskiel, began work as a piano refinisher at the Providence Piano Company. Over the next several years while working with master cabinet makers, piano retailers and furniture restoration companies, he acquired the skills, experience and financing to open his own company Waskiel Furniture Refinishing. From humble beginnings in a two car garage in Olneyville, RI, the company grew to expand to larger and larger mill spaces. Eventually, in 1982, he purchased his own building, which included a refinishing shop and retail/wholesale antique and piano store. Soon there would follow a warehouse and purchases of other buildings and businesses, one of which was the original Providence Piano Company. After working with my father on a part-time basis since childhood, I took over the refinishing and restoration portion of the business in 1990. In the years to follow, Waskiel Furniture Refinishing would expand the business into museum and historical restoration, architectural finishing, fabrication and residential and commercial touch-up and repair.

Waskiel Furniture Refinishing runs the restoration and refinishing business in a beautifully restored 1835 post and beam barn in Greenville, Rhode Island. The building itself was a one year restoration project from gutted shell to historically detailed but modern climate controlled building. Safe and secure, licensed and insured, the building is a fitting environment for the work we do.
How do you choose a qualified Restoration and Refinishing Specialist? How do you find someone you can trust with your valuable pieces and family heirlooms? There are 4 simple answers:
